A Letter to my Future Lover

By September 13, 2018 Deep Thoughts by April

My Dearest Future Lover,

My life up until this point has been preparation for my experience with you. Each of my past relationships have helped me to gather the information I needed to clearly define what I want and what I don’t want in a lover. Each heartbreak has given me the opportunity to nurture and strengthen my relationship with myself, which will make me a better lover to you. Each interaction, no matter how small or trivial, has shaped the woman that I am today, which just so happens to be everything you are seeking in a lover.

I am writing to you, Lover, to let you know that after 35 years of researching, gathering data, and experimenting, I am finally ready for you. I am ready to see what you look like, to smell what you smell like, to feel what you feel like. I am ready to share my life with you, to learn and to grow with you, to laugh and to cry with you. I am ready to support you, and to lean on you, to trust you and to love you. I am ready, Lover, for you.

My promise to you:

To always hold myself responsible for my own happiness and to never put that responsibility on you.

To allow our journeys to intersect and overlap, while still honoring and nurturing our unique pathways through life.

To open my heart to you fully, and not to allow any fears from past experiences to get in the way of trusting you.

To use the wisdom I have gathered from past relationships to strengthen our journey together, never to hinder it.

I can’t wait to meet you, Lover. I hope it won’t be too much longer, but you are worth every minute of the wait.

Until then, with love,
Your Future Lover <3
